Frequently asked questions

Everything worth knowing about popping videos out of their tab. Can't find your answer? Email hello@inpicture.net.

Does it work with Netflix, YouTube, and other streaming sites?

Yes. It uses the browser's native picture-in-picture mode, which works with almost every video player on the web — including YouTube, Netflix, Twitch, Vimeo, and embedded players on other sites.

Does the floating window stay on top of other apps, not just Chrome?

Yes. The floating window sits above all your other windows on the desktop, so you can keep watching while you write documents, code, or browse in another app.

How do I put the video back into its tab?

Click the extension icon again, press Alt + P, or use the “back to tab” control on the floating window itself. The video returns to exactly where it was.

Is there a keyboard shortcut?

Alt + P toggles picture-in-picture on and off without touching the mouse. You can change the shortcut on Chrome's chrome://extensions/shortcuts page.

There are several videos on the page — which one pops out?

The extension grabs the largest video that's actually playing. That's almost always the one you're watching.

Why does it ask to run on all websites?

To pop out a video on any site, it needs permission to find the playing video wherever you are. It uses that access for one thing only — locating and floating the video. It doesn't read, store, or send page content. See our Privacy Policy.

Does it collect my data?

No. It doesn't track your browsing, the videos you watch, or any personal information. Everything happens locally in your browser.

Is it really free?

Yes — free to install and free to use, with no account required.

Which browsers are supported?

Chrome, Edge, Brave, and other Chromium-based browsers. Install it from the Chrome Web Store or Edge Add-ons.
